Giving Back

When Martha and Charles Bryon started The Salt Exchange, they wanted to be more than just a place to eat. They wanted to be part of the community.

Their first step, now an annual tradition, was Thanksgiving at The Salt Exchange. In 2009, on the day before Thanksgiving, The Salt Exchange, led by the Bryons and a huge team of enthusiastic volunteers, did three seatings, serving nearly 100 Thanksgiving meals.

The Bryons continue their work with benefits and donations to a variety of organization and individuals, including Big Brothers, Big Sisters, The Compass Project, the Down East Pride Alliance and The March of Dimes.

Charles and Martha are particularly happy to be involved in supporting The Center for Grieving Children, an all-volunteer organization that provides support to grieving children, teens, families and the community through peer support, outreach, and education. The Center offers children and families its services at no cost, a crucial mission that can only be achieved through the continuous support of the community. The Salt Exchange hosts events for The Center regularly.
